The Standardized Patient Program (SPP) believes equity, diversity and inclusion is about creating a culture that embraces the uniqueness of all individuals. In practice, this means all individuals involved in simulations will respect people of all identities and treat all others fairly, while actively contributing to a learning and work environment that is free from discriminatory and intimidating behaviour. Building an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment involves collaboration and requires those in positions of privilege to be allies to those who are marginalized.

Any feedback, comments, questions or concerns are encouraged and should be brought to the SPP staff in a timely manner.

Disrespectful or inappropriate comments towards or about others, of any nature, will not be tolerated. Concerns about the performance or behaviour of standardized patients (SPs), learners, staff or faculty should be brought directly to SPP staff or management.

If an SP or learner felt unsafe during any simulation (physically, emotionally or otherwise) they may complete the Centre for Simulation-Based Learning Safe (CSBL) Space Feedback form, via the QR Code posted in each room in the CSBL, to provide feedback. Feedback obtained via this method will be reviewed by the CSBL to determine if/what measures may be implemented. This will not be treated as a formal complaint. Should the SP or learner wish to report the incident formally, or access support resources, they should reach out to a member of the SPP staff or their program for guidance.
