Basic skills required of a standardized patient include:
- Ability to retain information
- Reliability and punctuality
- Active listening
- Ability to work with others in a professional manner
- Ability to receive constructive feedback
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and reproduce simulation consistently
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to learners
Applications are always accepted and kept on file if the Standardized Patient Program (SPP) is not actively hiring at this time. Anyone interested in being a standardized patient (SP) can complete the online application, with the option to select which campuses they are willing to work at. Successful applicants will be contacted to attend an interview session once the SPP is actively recruiting.
