Clinical Examinations

The Standardized Patient Program has extensive experience in the administration of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), including large scale licensure and certification exams.

Standardized Patient Program (SPP) staff can work with McMaster University programs or external groups with logistical planning, including:

  • Recruitment and training of standardized patients (SPs), support staff and physician examiners
  • Preparation of materials
  • Equipment and space sourcing
  • Drafting layout of stations
  • Preparing timing schedule
  • Ordering catering

The SPP does not develop content for exams but are able to provide guidance and assist with developing the SP story for scenarios.

To learn more about how the SPP can assist and associated costs, please email Leigh Norman, administrator of the Standardized Patient Program and clinical examinations.
