Developed by the Centre for Simulation-Based Learning (CSBL), under the leadership of Dr. Arden Azim and Dr. Jen Mohaupt. This workshop is for undergraduate healthcare learners who are interested in learning how to respond to an acutely decompensating patient in the hospital. It focuses on how and when to call a code blue, initiate CPR, bag mask ventilation, identification of shockable rhythms and defibrillation. Participants will rotate through four stations including mannequins to practice each skill, followed by a simulation of a mode code blue.
Please note, this is not a substitute for basic life support (BLS) training. Participants are recommended to have basic life support training prior to the workshop, although this is not mandatory.
This workshop is scheduled several times throughout the year. Registration is through the Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research (PIPER) IPE Manager system. Please check PIPER Events Calendar for upcoming Code Blue workshops.
