Director of Patient Safety & In Situ Simulation
Centre for Simulation-Based Learning
As the director of in situ simulation, Julie Pace is working with different hospital sites and academic partners to further build capacity in leading in situ simulations, with a focus on identification of latent safety threats that will inform safety-driven quality improvement initiatives. She has worked with hospital educators and simulation leads to help them structure simulation facilitation and debriefing using a patient safety and quality lens.
At St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Hamilton Health Sciences, she has utilized in situ simulation with many disciplines within the emergency departments, medicine, obstetrics, the operating rooms and in neonatal resuscitation to help identify unique process gaps that helped to inform care management when caring for patients with COVID-19. She has also run hospital interprofessional simulations in the context of real cases to gain perspective on systems gaps. Julie continues to collaborate with academic partners to build creative learning environments that foster growth and development for both learners and hospital staff.
